BPP Unveils Pioneer Research Centre

'The Bureau for Public Procurement (BPP) has launched a Public Procurement Research Centre (PPRC) at the Federal University of Technology, Owerri (FUTO), as the first of such centres in the country.

 

'This is part of the agency's effort to reduce corruption among public and private sectors of the economy, even as measures are being taken to replicate the centre in other parts of the geographical zones of the country.

 

'Following due process in awarding contracts, which is the main programme of the Bureau, it had since 2007 prevented about N350 billion from being spent as contract sums, which meant reducing government debt profile by that amount, which would have ordinarily gone down the drain if due process was not applied.'
