PPADB to become a regulatory authority?

2012-07-25

'The Ministry of Finance and Development Planning wants to see the Public Procurement and Asset Disposal Board (PPADB) become a Regulatory Authority. If Parliament approves Minister Kenneth Matambo's proposal, the organisation would not participate in the adjudication and awarding of tenders.

' "The Ministry is currently considering proposals from PPADB to review the PPAD Act to come up with clear roles which will ensure that PPADB assumes a proper regulatory role whilst the adjudication and award of tenders is left to the Procuring Entities (PEs)," said Matambo in Parliament last week.

'When that happens, Matambo said that the PEs would need to be resourced and trained to assume full responsibility for adjudication and awarding of tenders.'
